This is a conceptual proposal for a large-scale corporate space in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The following project was developed for a competition and brings together several key points, which we at IT'S believe are the pillars of future workspaces. It is the result of a very careful research, and therefore we believe that it should not be restricted to our data servers and it would be a waste not to share it.
People who take care of People.
That's what led us to design this project. To think of an intuitive and essential space where the quality of the interior environment reflects the positioning and care that an insurance institution should demonstrate towards its users. It is a project driven, above all, by the questioning of what an innovative corporate space means today.
With an eye that goes beyond the limits of the building which relates to the city, where we affirm the importance of connectivity and mobility in the conformation of a new ecosystem.
The building has a longilineal flow configuration. We brought a street to the center of this spatiality in order to balance and redefine the relationships between the different scales. It extends in clear intention of connectivity between interior and exterior, amplifying the perception of interpersonal relationships.
It is from this central, synergic point that the occupation is dispersed into streams that are oriented by different visual perceptions, empowering the space as a whole and connecting the floors in a sense of unity.
Here, we envisioned an urban layout, where the intricate reasoning materializes in a sophisticated and simple occupation, fostering transparency and horizontality in relationships, empowering the experience exchange.
The pragmatism and intelligence of the design was guided by the idea of a sensitive and meaningful spatiality. With this we built a synergic and solid ecosystem, where the quality of the meetings and the knowledge exchange can be, in fact, transformative.
A series of premises were adopted with the intention of amplifying the spatial qualities. Some of them are inherent to the architectural quality of the building itself, such as its orientation, visuals and natural lighting. These qualities are enhanced by interior design, where no static structure touches the facade.
Mobility and flexibility are fundamental premises for a project of such scale, users must be connected intelligently, in a dynamic flow, both horizontally and vertically through the space, which materializes in the project through stairs and visual tears between slabs. The cafeterias are also pulverized in order to reduce distances among the employees. The meeting areas are not very dense, and there is a spreading of living areas all over the space.
The occupation modularity as a project premise provides individual capsules easily installed in accordance with the spatial need and stationary meeting modules that organize the spatiality and flow. These modules feature an opening system that provides greater synergy with the surrounding space.
Vegetation is a fundamental point in the proposal, contact with green and nature is part of our essence.
Technological finishes intensify the spatial sound quality. Acoustic plans take part in the composition of the space while equalizing the internal comfort.
Art in the work environment inspires, calms and strengthens connections with the outside world.
Finally, large corporate projects, in most cases, go through a very dense and expensive competition process for the involved architecture offices. Consequently, these processes usually engage the most consolidated architectural firms in the market, since the smaller ones do not have such a large margin for investment.
On the one hand, it is undeniable that competition fosters innovation for the impetus of victory. On the other hand, there is a great setback for the users of these spaces when, in the proposals’ assessment, financial values prevail over those of architectural quality of the space. In these cases, the losing bidder is the user.
