Introduction
The client in Information Technology rented an office space on the 10th floor in a new building in Neihu Technology Park. As the client mainly does coding design for companies abroad, the creation of a relaxing working environment is the goal of the project.
Floor plan
The whole space is divided into three parts, including communal, working, supervisor and meeting areas.
Communal area:
Next to the entrance, the area serves as the living room. Employees can use this area to rest, have food and drink, or host casual meetings. The design theme is centered around a wooden boat and a tree that symbolizes life. Colorful rounded rugs echo well with the round-shaped ceiling. The boat in the center of the area faces spaces named after international cities, symbolizing collaborations with companies from diverse countries.
The client’s logo is made of solid cypress and displayed on the arched wall at the entrance. It not only echoes to the arched reception desk but also the round-shaped ceiling and rugs. Whether it is sitting on the boat, resting on lazybones, having meals under the tree, or reading and drinking coffee on the 6-meter table, employees can enjoy a sense of relaxation at work. It allows them to have a sense of belonging and feel more connected. The yellow heartbeat illustration on the glass wall acts as a guide to the working area.
Working area:
The two curve walls at entrance of the area define the border with communal area. The LED lights and the lighting on aluminum grille ceiling warm up the open plan space. The low partitions between desks and the colorful partitions that separate sidewalk and working area brighten up the whole space.
Supervisor and meeting areas:
Different from working area, because of the nature of work, these two areas are compartmented. To make the area more open, the partitions used are made of glass. Based on the concept of boarding gates, supervisors’ and meeting rooms are named after international cities, such as Paris, Venice, Berlin, Sydney, New York, Dubai, and Seoul. It makes these rooms more human and represents the active collaborations internationally.
Conclusion
Most of the working people stay longer in the office than home, so the environment and atmosphere of an office can affect one’s feeling and working efficiency. The project achieves the goal of making the office a place not only to work but also to relax and recharge.
