Developed by PLACE (Projects Linking Art, Community and Environment) this project provides 54 units of affordable housing targeted toward artists, 15 units of supportive housing and 13 market rate units as well as community space. The project benefited from strong support from the city of Ventura, where it is viewed as an important part of the strategy for revitalizing their downtown as “California’s New Art City.” The dwelling units are tailored to the needs of working artists with 15 foot-high work spaces for each unit and generous outdoor work spaces. The units are arranged to create a village-like environment with a community gallery at its heart.
