A 15 year old townhouse was renovated to allow for the swapping of the location of the Dining Room and Kitchen to take maximum advantage of the courtyard garden outlook from the Kitchen. The owner is a very good cook and wanted plenty of bench space to prepare and serve food. The mirrored splashback takes advantage of the reflection of the courtyard garden giving a feeling of space to the solid party wall.
The Dining Room required a servery/bookcase for all the clients cookbooks, plus a place to hide a television and selected crockery. The joinery unit was designed to match the existing Dining Room furniture, and house a secret door to a store room behind the joinery unit.
