Under construction in Woodside, California is a new ground-up single-family residence designed by Faulkner Architects. Situated on a gently sloping east-facing infill parcel, the design navigates challenges like a bisecting community trail, seasonal creek, seismic fault line, and heritage oak trees. The structure emerges from the hillside, cantilevering downhill, with low-slung rectangular forms aligning parallel to the slope while maintaining a view focused on the San Francisco Bay. Weathering steel rainscreens offer fire resistance and zero maintenance. This design harmoniously blends with the half forested landscape, emphasizing both privacy from the trail and the captivating bay vista.
