Located prominently within the Woodley Park Historic District of the nation’s capital, this 39-unit residential adaptive re-use / urban-infill project respectfully integrates a contemporary addition behind four restored historic townhouses built by renowned British developer Harry Wardman. The design employs strategic setbacks to reduce overall visual impact, polychrome brick, and rhythmical projecting bay windows holistically unifying old and new. This project establishes new paradigms for successfully integrating contemporary design with historic architecture within established urban contexts.
