This exhibit focuses on the Virginia forest and wood products industry and its byproducts. By visiting these industries, including a plywood mill, lumber mill, tree nursery, paper mill and recycling center, our studio was able to get a bigger picture of the ways in which wood is used and how it flows across the state of Virginia from trees to waste material.
A major concern was the efficiency of the wood industries and how they could minimize waste or use waste to feed into other cycles of production.
The exhibit opened at the University of Virginia School of Architecture on March 20, 2011.
