Wood Living is a Co-living in Matosinhos, a shared living model, where it's possible to subscribe to a home and other features for a period and share the common spaces with the rest of the living community.
Shared living isn’t a lifestyle trend. It has the potential to address some of the world’s most pressing problems. Is a way to create more affordable housing for the many. Through better use of space and by sharing costs, shared living could enable more affordable housing in a dense city like Matosinhos.
The widening gap between house prices and income levels means young adults increasingly struggle to get onto the housing ladder. From self-centric relationships to a smart collective network, Wood Living is a new way of living together, more consciously, more livable, more affordable, and more sustainable.
Combining Nature and the Community, Wood Co-living is designed to be built in a CLT (Cross Laminated Timber) structure and will be covered with wood panels that will age astonishingly and change color with time, becoming greyer and better integrated into the urban surroundings, without losing the wood feeling.
The green plant pots in the windows, the big interior patio, and the green rooftops will help to increase the quality of the air at the same time that will regulate the temperature all year long.
All the shared outdoor spaces were designed to be part of the living community with gardening and relaxation activities and sunset parties, on the ground floor and also on the rooftops.
