The site
under the railroad is an often forgotten space within a city.
This site
needs a harmonious treatment as well as a structure which illuminates the dark
and lost space in an exciting way.
The
exhibition pavilion “WombComb” is a pavilion structure carefully integrated
into the site under the railroad.
Placed in
the back of the site it offers both, an attractive and welcoming plaza towards
the street as well as an exciting interior space.
The combs -
reminding of honeycombs - articulate the parasitical and temporary character of
the installation. A honeycomb in its geometrical nature is able to find its place
within almost every urban and natural circumstances. The different modules are
made out of polystyrenecellularplastics and can be easily arranged on and connected to each other.
Multiple
fragments of the honeycombs are placed on the square in front of the pavilion
to offer various ways of experience the space.
The Facing
parts are able to integrate light and projection technology in order to
illuminate the space and offer a surface for projecting video-art. Seen from
the outside it immediately attracts people to come closer and enjoy art and the
space itself.
Once
entered the space the comb-structure illuminates the interior, creating a
fantastic cosmos within the urban fabric: the “WombComb”.
