A generous single family home in Toblach, Italy, near the Austrian border. The basic characteristics of this building are the staggering of the different volumes
and the central courtyard. Thanks to this concept it is possible to guide light
into parts of the basement, where the fitness and wellnes area is located. The
ground floor houses the entrance area, a work room, and a spacious living space
oriented towards the atrium, with a lowered level couch area. The kitchen and
dining area, staggered on a higher level, can be reached by a wide staircase, a
true design element. Another half floor up, there are the bedrooms of the
building, as well as a small apartment, also accessible via an external
staircase. At the top level is the master bedroom with an open bathroom and a
dressing room. Several terraces are facing south, and in the basement there is a garage with five parking spaces as well as different technical and storage rooms and of course
the fitness and wellness area. The structural features of this building are interesting.
It is a hybrid style of concrete and various wooden construction techniques.
The basement and part of the first ceiling were executed with reinforced concrete. Other parts, however, were built of wood. Fully insulated elements of the type "multibox", as well as solid wood components of the type XLAM
were used for exterior and interior walls, ceilings. By using appropriate insulation thickness of external walls and roof, 3 - way glass, and a controlled ventilation, this building reaches the climate house category
"A". A photovoltaic system has been installed on the roof.
