within....without is an installation included in the 3rd annual art and design exhibit that matched architects with artists and lighting designers to benefit and raise awareness of homelessness in New York City. The exhibition/benefit raised money to directly help Common Ground support homeless families in Brooklyn.
The installation is created as an urban nest that projects a sense of enclosure. However upon entering the project one encounters a snowy cold landscape an ever tightening spatial condition. This reflects in some way the psychology of the homeless imparted to the visitor.
