Design for a new DNR headquarters answered the call to create a sustainable, energy-efficient, aesthetically-pleasing facility while maintaining harmony between work spaces and the outdoor environment.
Through thoughtful massing, orientation, and envelope optimization, the building was designed as a filter to provide glare-free natural daylighting, and reject summer heat gain in conjunction with efficient HVAC and lighting systems. The new facility includes a modest lobby/customer service area, meeting room, and conference room. The site also includes visitor parking spaces, along with staff, fleet, and preferred parking for carpoolers. Adding to the DNR’s core values, the
fundamentals in the design of this facility adhered to our shared belief in the concept of whole building design.
