Winzer Dreieck is the new development of the winemaker school in Klosterneuburg, Austria. Extending the existing structure along Wiener Straße the building fills up the triangular plot, with streets on either side.
The massing is in a nondisruptive method, with a break on the west façade.
The triangular volume forms a front along Wiener Straße and continues as glass house at Leopoldstraße.
In the east the building extends onto 3 levels, whereas it decreases on 2 levels and a 1 level glass house towards the west.
With the building massing a harmonic transition is created to the existing structure in the north, while respecting a distance towards the neighbors in the west. A continuous open landscape in the shape of a triangle is obtained at the very south of the plot.
The structure of the façade is simple and flexible, while still allowing an interesting appearance with a diversified play of shadows.
Classes for the winemaker school are located around an atrium. On level 2 a generous area with bright skylights for lingering and studying forms the center of said atrium.
A farmer’s market is located at the prominent north-west corner of the building, with a connecting entrance area.
The gym and event hall represents the center on ground level, surrounded by the farmer’s market, as well as multifunctional rooms.
All classes of the winemaker school are located on the 2 upper levels, connected with a central atrium. An additional classroom for the existing neighboring school is located right next to a connecting bridge on level 3.
The glass house on level 2, respectively on ground level from Leopoldstraße, forms its own building massing along the west façade.
