The concept was derived by drawing lines to connect the site to area parks, businesses and neighborhoods. The design objective was to transform the minor league ballpark into an athletic facility that tied into the cultural heritage of the area and to reconnect the community with the city. The facility benefits the surrounding neighborhoods by providing a stadium for area schools/universities, encourages business growth through reestablished infrastructure. It also preserves the existing stadium as a museum featuring exhibits about the Indianapolis ABC's and the Negro Baseball Leagues for all to experience.
