The White House is characterized by a single-story, single-family architectural design, featuring a two-car garage and comprising two distinctive geometric shapes. These white structures, each featuring a gable roof, together form a coherent and visually striking composition. Notably, they share identical dimensions in terms of height and width, with the sole differentiation being their respective lengths. These white elements effectively mimic the appearance of wood and serve as integral components of the building, replacing conventional openings. The terraces seamlessly extend from the apertures, creating the illusion that a section of the wall has been excised, leaving behind a void in its place.
Embracing the maxim of the renowned American architect from the modernist era, Louis Henry Sullivan, "form follows function," Z3Z ARCHITEKCI's designs exhibit a commitment to clarity of form, free from unnecessary embellishments. In this particular project, two robust external volumes distinctly mirror the internal division of functions within the house. The front block, with expansive glass openings, encompasses the living area, comprising a spacious living room, dining area, and kitchen. On the other hand, the rear block, positioned further from the street and toward the rear of the property, serves as the private, nocturnal zone, housing all the bedrooms for the household's occupants.
This thoughtful arrangement not only ensures a clear and organized composition but also affords the opportunity to establish two distinct courtyards. One courtyard, nestled between the structural elements, serves as a serene space for leisure and relaxation, while the other is situated at the entrance to the residence.
The interiors were designed by Z3Z Architekci studio with the primary objective of achieving harmonious integration with the external structure. This cohesive design approach is evident through the interaction of white and wood materials. Consistency in material usage is a recurring theme in all of the studio's projects. For instance, when wood was implemented for the terrace roof's ceiling, the same wood was extended into the house for the living room ceiling. The overarching concept revolves around the pursuit of straightforward, cost-effective forms and design consistency.
