This gallery space on Broadway was designed for the owner of "Alexandre Gertsman- Comtemporary Art" . Mr. Gertsman is New York’s premier dealer in contemporary Russian art. He represents well-known and established Russian-born artists and develops new, young, emerging artists. He has curated more than 40 traveling major museum exhibitions of Russian art throughout the United States, Europe, and Russia.
Conceptually the space was designed to serve as a "back-drop"- a "white canvas" for the art rather than being itself the main focus of attention. The complete absence of colors on all two-dimensional surfaces in the main gallery space allows the paintings to take center stage. Only in the third dimension the architecture becomes expressive; walls are cut and shift, display shelves meander and large pivot doors open to discover unexpected splashes of color .
