A handsome Georgian grade II listed house along the Kennet & Avon canal. It used to be the old wharf master’s house controlling the lock and the small marina. It is still an elegantly proportioned home but a little tired looking where we seek to add some contemporary flair whilst overhauling the interiors. The formal layout is proposed to be retained internally as a series of rooms where a new sleek linear brick extension is added to the rear that opens up generously to the garden and to the kitchen in the existing house. A zinc lantern is added over the living room within the extension with a form that plays on the asymmetrical roof volume of the existing house.
