Through the creation of a new centralized entry plaza and lobby, the Westwood Child Development Center offers a community enhancing facility designed to meet the needs of children and families from infancy through preschool. Classrooms and public spaces with direct connections to the outdoor learning areas provide a peaceful environment filled by daylight and surrounded by natural views. Classrooms views focus on the contemplative outdoor spaces and the opportunities for playful learning activity found within them. Adding to the learning experience, the renovation and expansion embodies numerous green building principles including daylighting and the use of recycled and renewable materials.
The renovation of the existing 5,600 sq. ft. facility recreates modern early childhood education classrooms and amenities that give renewed life to the existing structure.
Extending from the new centralized entry and lobby, the 4,600 sq. ft. expansion includes four preschool classrooms, accessible toilet facilities, a parent work/meeting room and a director’s office overlooking the entry lobby.
