The design for Westminster High School resulted in an exemplary facility on an existing exemplary site. This new building combines current and proven educational planning with contemporary enclosure systems and service technologies. The site was designed to best arrange fitness, athletic, and commons areas on the campus. Two wings gather academic functions at one end of the building. The administrative, health, performing arts, and support services are located at the other end. The site slopes toward Hidden Lake and allows setting a portion of the Careers & Technology labs on an additional lower level.

The combination of practical needs and the prominence of the Rocky Mountains inspired associations with geological formations and careful articulation of materials. The design expresses substantial program and building components using local colors and materials. Key portions of the building show wide open spaces through the use of glass wall systems. Active circulation and large gathering areas benefit from exposure to daylight and mountain views, and they also connect the interior of the building to the exterior.
