This project represents a significant system investment into Jackson General Hospital, a key community hospital newly integrated into the WVU Medicine system. Serving the community since 1964, Jackson General Hospital is undergoing a transformation to create a modern setting for critical services like emergency surgery and inpatient nursing. HED designed a two-story facility that replaces an original section of the hospital through demolition. The new facility connects with the existing hospital on the first level, and the junction between new and existing spaces is carefully planned to ensure seamless functional integration. This approach also allows for phased interior design upgrades throughout the hospital over time.
