West Thomas Pedestrian Bridge is a new pedestrian overpass that links the lower Queen Anne neighborhood to Myrtle Edwards Park. Access to the park is limited since a series of mainline railroad tracks creates a physically barrier between the park and the adjacent neighborhood. The only means from entering the park is either via the north entrance or south entrance. Walkers and cyclists entering the park would either have to enter from one end and continue to the other end of the park or turn around at some point to exit at the same entry way. The new overpass provides an intermediate exit point from the park via a grade separated structure that spans across the railroad tracks as well as a busy throughway.
