The Wenfung Furniture Show House is a space that exhibits a wide range of teak furniture, showcasing the furniture in different settings.
A modular design has been experimented to increase the versatility of micro spaces to accommodate different furniture that is being displayed.
A grid of tubular notches has been excavated from the concrete floor prior to the installation of the modular structure. Concrete tubes, with embedded customized black iron components, are used as bases of the modular structure. Projected galvanized iron rods that are pre-installed in the notches slot into the voids on the bottom of the concrete bases in order to add stability and to secure the concrete bases at a certain angle to avoid rotation during the installation.
The black iron components that are embedded in the concrete base connect to vertical articulation of plywood struts that are further joined horizontally with similar black iron components, using nuts and bolts. The frames that the plywood struts form can be modified to adapt to different layouts, according to different proportions of the displayed furniture or different functionalities.
The modular structure can accommodate various add-ons to ornate the spaces. Lightings, paintings, fabric, etc. are installed on the plywood struts to create micro atmosphere that is tailored to different settings.
As it is easy and convenient to constantly change the layout of the modular structure, it provides a lot of room for imagination and freedom in space configuration while the owner can always regret and alter the design of his space.
