Located on River Road in Covington, Louisiana, along the Bogue Falaya River, this project involved NANO renovating and expanding an existing property for the Wellmeyer family. The resulting three-bedroom home spans seven acres and focuses on integrating natural surroundings with a design that supports family living.
The design features a two-story family and entertaining area with high ceilings, exposed wooden beams, and large windows that provide river views and connect the interior with the outdoor environment. A covered porch extends from this space, offering a shaded area for relaxation and gatherings with lawn views. The open-concept design connects the living room, dining area, and kitchen, enhancing the sense of space, with natural wood finishes creating a warm atmosphere. A loft above the family room offers a versatile space overlooking the main living area.
Sustainability is not just a feature but a key consideration in this project. The use of natural materials like wood and stone throughout the home, the combination of wood siding with a metal roof for durability, and the landscaping that includes gardens and gravel paths, all contribute to a design that is not just beautiful, but also environmentally conscious, making you feel a part of the solution.
An additional barn next to the main house offers gathering storage or space, and a new guest house accommodates visitors. The original home's remnants were turned into an artist's studio, adding to the property's functionality.
