Wayra constitutes one of the most innovative proposals that Telefónica has driven forward since 2011 through its head offices in Latin America and Europe. Wayra, which means "wind" in Quechua, has consolidatedas a “project accelerator” aimed at providing all-round support to technological start-ups with vast development potential. The projects selected in each of the cities where the multinational hasput out the call have not only received financial support and advice in different business areas, but they have also been invited to take up a space for work, socialisation and interconnectionaimed at boosting each project’s possibilities of success: The Wayra academy.
For Estudio QA run by the architect Miguel Ángel García Alonso, "the basic aim of theWayradesign project hasbeen to create a common work space which is consistent with the very nature and philosophy of these start-ups: a space whichwill serve as an interconnected, multipurpose and open ecosystem, but simultaneously endowed with its own recognisable personality, irrespective of its international location."
