Warner Music Project Description
The design and construction of Warner Music Group’s new offices in Chile was awarded through an ideas competition. Contract Workplaces was selected thanks to a conceptual proposal that interprets the musical experience as the guiding axis of the project and translates it spatially into each of its areas.
The new headquarters is located in Ciudad Empresarial, in the district of Huechuraba, one of Chile’s main corporate hubs. The site offers modern infrastructure, good connectivity, proximity to retail and services, and extensive green areas—conditions that position it as a highly competitive environment for business development.
The client expressed the need to consolidate the label’s different brands (Chappell Music, Warner Music, Ada Latin) into a space capable of expressing their identity while aligning with the current dynamics of the industry. To achieve this, the goal was to configure a flexible and collaborative environment that would encourage interaction between artists, producers, and internal teams, while also enabling connections with guests and fans.
The project was developed on a 500 m² floor plan, based on a zoning concept inspired by the different moments of a concert. In this way, the access area, called “Meet and Greet,” functions as a prelude and an active meeting space: it allows visitors to enjoy musical content, photograph the rooms where artists sign their agreements, or explore Chile and its main landscapes through the mural that accompanies the entrance as a gesture of local identity.
The second area, linked to the social space, is called “Stage.” It is structured around a perimeter platform whose geometry references a sound wave and incorporates a “tiny stage” intended for small-format concerts and launches. A Coffee Bar complements the program and organizes a space where artists, collaborators, fans, and guests converge.
Finally, the backstage area was resolved through an open-plan scheme that concentrates the operational area with assigned workstations, meeting rooms, and recording studios—that is, the functions that support music production. Warner Music and Chappell Music have differentiated work areas, although they share studios and collaborative spaces.
One of the main challenges was addressing the unusual characteristics of this workspace: translating the logic of a musical performance into a work environment without compromising comfort or efficiency. In this sense, music was conceived as the generator of space, articulating identity and performance. Acoustics therefore became a determining aspect and was developed together with specialized engineers in order to enable the recording studios to be located at the center of the floor plan.
Regarding the project’s aesthetics, a palette of neutral colors with selective accents was chosen to highlight—without competing with—the elements associated with the musical universe—records, instruments, awards, and vinyls—which contribute identity to the space. In terms of materials, acoustic finishes in different formats were incorporated across workstations and ceilings, as well as on walls and floors, integrating technical performance with material expression. Wood and textiles in copper tones balance the composition and add warmth.
The art and graphics were materialized in a digital mural depicting Chile’s main landscapes, developed collaboratively between AI and a graphic designer as a resource to reinforce local belonging. The graphics applied to glass partitions draw on the visual language of sound bars, reinforcing the conceptual narrative of the project.
The result is a space that vibrates with purpose, where talent finds its best expression, translating the brand’s musical culture into a compelling work experience.
