30 kilometers north of the swiss-italian border, a stone wall, 2.3 kilometers long, extends south to north, cutting through a valley. this stone wall contains one edge of a canal that empties into lake lugano and defines the boundary between the towns of riva san vitale and capalago.
the wall and a floor extend into the lake and form a place for dwelling: a house.
the house is completed by an interweaving of interior and exterior space and exists as a place for one to dwell. here the urban fabric of these two towns merge with the natural phenomena of the surrounding alpine mountains and lake.
