The overall concept for the hotel was to incorporate technology and glamour into the various activities and states of being that the traveler encounters during their stay. The public spaces were designed to accent the hotel’s transition from day to night, and to enhance the roles of spectator and performer in the public arena. The public areas’ neutral palette includes warm greys and silver with accents of red and the W Hotel’s signature purple.
In the check-in area, freestanding pods serve as check-in desks, while a warm wood wall comes alive with backlit projections. The living room seamlessly shifts from morning breakfast bar to casual working lounge to comfortable evening bar. Custom furniture includes large oval hammocks nestled against full-sized windows overlooking the terrace. Tree graphics float above in ceiling cutouts; when darkness falls the panels illuminate.
The materials and color palette are modern pop: white, black, violets, and hints of silver metallic throughout. The color pops and pattern are used minimally and strategically so as not to compete with the lines and forms of the furniture. Even the carpet was custom developed to change appearance as you move around the room and the quantity and quality of light variances by introducing about 30% metallic yards fibers. ICRAVE designed the entire hotel from start to finish including all 500 guestrooms, WOW and E-WOW Suites, elevators and corridors, the gym and pool area.
