The Rolls Royce of pop-up
café-restaurantsA festival wouldn't be complete this year without a pop-up café
or restaurant. So, for the design-conscious, there will be only one
place to go during London's Design Festival this autumn: the pop-up
café at Tent, located in the Truman Brewery.
The temporary space has been specially designed by innovative
company Vonsung, which has created a dramatic look to provide a
unique dining and bar space. Guests will dine in the atmospheric
café, whose whole structure is illuminated by both skylights and
indoor lighting so as to form shadows and silhouettes.
The interior was created using materials from Vonsung's existing
project site and includes cutting-edge material Bolon - a woven
vinyl material - which will encase the floors and the ceilings, and
Valchromat, which will be used for the walls. The attention to
detail is meticulous: even the roof has been designed to be seen
from all directions and takes the form of a series of waves.
Creative director of Vonsung, Joseph Sung says "Our intention
was to create a more pleasurable hospitality space during the
exhibition, which you normally do not get at other design
festivals. We are exhibiting how a well thought-out branding
exercise should be for a restaurant project - all the way down to
the detail of our packaging and utensils. This is the Rolls Royce
of pop-up café-restaurants."
