An operations office building for a new steel plant in South Texas owned by an Austrian Company. This design/build project had the challenges of a program that exceeded the budget available, an uncompromising schedule with mission-critical milestones for the company's global operations, and a quality expectation from an owner accustomed to a European corporate headquarters environment. The design celebrated the versatility and beauty of steel in construction. Typically covered materials, like metal studs and plaster lath, were highlighted as design elements. The building was configured for energy efficiency with a deeply shaded west entry façade, while a monumental stair was oriented to capture a view of the plant's dramatic 400' tall process tower as one ascends to the main office floor.
