The competition organized by the Spanish Ministry of Housing ask to provide a design for 839 houses in Ceuta for a site that combines the unusual view (for social housing) of the Mediterranean, a nearby Moroccan favela, big slopes and a new regional hospital in the middle of the development. Our proposal `Vivienda de Patron` (pattern housing and boss housing type) could be read as an urban mediator between the rather intimate scale of the neighbor favela and the hospital. It is also an attempt to incorporate the complexity and variety of the vernacular tissue in a systemic way of check board arrangement towers and a continuous urban fabric at the ground level. The multiplicity of housing types relaxes the aspect of the rather orthodox position of the towers. More than 90% of the apartments have double orientation increasing comfort and diminishing energy consumption.
