This is a house
dwelling on one of the most beautiful avenues of Mexico City. The house is one level above the street
so there needs to be a flight of stairs around a large planter.
Once at entry
level, you see the first simple entry that takes visitors into library
reception area. Behind the partition is the path to the dining room which opens
onto a large open area made up of 9 meter tall walls. This black floor patio (slate) with red walls
blocks out the neighbors and opens up to the sky.
The dining room
runs into another patio-garden to the rear, which is completely integrated with
the sky by its blue color. It also is
connected to the kitchen and, via a service stairway, is connected with the
house’s three levels.
The house has
two bedrooms on the lower level, one oriented towards the entrance planter and
the other towards the red patio. There are two
bedrooms on the upper level.
You get to the
upper level via an unobtrusive stairway that starts at the main hallway. On this level there is a large space for
a family room which is open with a corner hidden from the light for the
television. The main bedroom in
turn has a separate area for a dressing room and a bathroom, both illuminated
by an open terrace.
The 4th bedroom
with a dressing room and bathroom is at the opposite end from the master
bedroom and has a private patio to illuminate the bathroom and a private
terrace for the bedroom.
The red patio also has a funnel-shaped access allowing for access
from the main entry without having to go into the house which gives the spaces
an air of openness.
