As a studio exploring scripted and parametric systems, Viral Symbiosis was born out of the interest in moving beyond cellular systems that focus solely on the design of individual cells by instead investigating the aggregation process and working backwards. As a functional strategy the project focuses on circulation systems in general with a more specific focus on MoMA circulation as a variable and habitable space of encounter. The use of voronoi systems, which operate on the basis of proximity and connection, serve as both a metaphor to the node/network layout of the gallery and as design strategy of the facade system.
