Villa Zai is a hotel designed primarily for private group use, offering the entire property as an exclusive rental for travelers vacationing with close friends, or as a venue for weddings—including both ceremonies and receptions. With only nine rooms in total, the hotel is intentionally limited in capacity to serve only the bride and groom and their closest guests. Among these is a large, signature suite featuring three bedrooms, providing ample space for wedding preparations. Additional guests attending the event can stay at other nearby properties operated by the same owner group.
Situated on a curved cliffside, the property boasts an uninterrupted 180-degree panoramic view of the Andaman Sea. The architecture is composed of three primary buildings that are strategically staggered across the site and arranged in a way that they overlap and open inward to form a central courtyard. This configuration maximizes visual connections between spaces and maintains sea views from every angle. The main accommodation building is aligned parallel to the coastline, ensuring all rooms have equally unobstructed ocean views. These rooms feature wider-than-standard facades to frame the scenery fully, with some designed as two-story duplexes. The signature suite, designed for the bride and groom, includes three bedrooms and a nearly 40-meter-long rooftop swimming pool with a jacuzzi, offering a dramatic sunset panorama.
Perpendicular to the accommodation wing is the central building, serving as a relaxed common area akin to a lobby. It provides a social space for guests to lounge and take in the scenery, as well as housing a fitness center and a private theater. This central zone connects to the front-most building near the entrance road, which contains all-day dining facilities, a game room and bar, and a spa—amenities designed to also welcome external guests. This front building also accommodates the project's back-of-house (BOH) operations, with convenient access from the main road.
The layout of the three buildings emphasizes simplicity, continuity, and thoughtful sequencing of experiences. It’s designed to support both group vacationers and those using the property for special events such as weddings. The interior design draws inspiration from the hotel’s natural setting, especially the breathtaking colors of the Andaman sky at sunset. The concept is to “capture moments” that mark meaningful occasions—whether a once-in-a-lifetime wedding or cherished time spent among close friends.
Material selections include semi-reflective surfaces and architectural details that blur physical boundaries—such as rounded corners or softened transitions—to create a sense of openness and weightlessness, blending the interior space with the sky and sea. The primary palette centers on whites and surfaces that respond dynamically to natural light, allowing guests to experience the changing atmosphere throughout the day—from sunrise to sunset. Particular attention is paid to “Golden Hour” and “Blue Hour,” which are ideal for photography and emotional resonance. Each guest room embodies a unique sky mood, inspired by colors such as Twilight Sky, Sunny Sky, Clear Sky, Vanilla Sky, and Cloudy Sky.
Architecturally, the project adopts a minimalist palette of white, grey, and black to serve as a subtle backdrop—allowing the true highlights of each stay, such as joyful gatherings and evening celebrations, to take center stage. The design invites guests to be fully present in their special moments, framed by natural beauty and thoughtful spatial design.
