The client requested a one-story home with a semi-enclosed inner courtyard inspired by Eastern philosophy. This led to the concept of Villa – Sun—a house built around an oval, cornerless courtyard that reflects the sun’s circular path and fills the space with shifting light and shadows. A sundial with a fountain marks the center, and coincidentally, the client’s name is also Sun (Saule).
The layout is clear: the entrance reveals the courtyard; bedrooms and a second-floor workspace lie to the left, while the kitchen, dining, and living areas stretch to the right, ending in a glazed terrace. At the west, a spa and pool echo the setting sun.
Eastern design influences fill the interior—Samarkand- and Bukhara-inspired details, copper sun-ray inlays, custom columns, and ornamented floors all radiate toward the central courtyard, which visually connects every part of the home.
