Lab32 architects recently completed Villa R and it was designed to fulfill the desires and needs of a Dutch couple in their fourties with no children. The villa is set in the exclusive residential area of Rekem in Belgium near the Dutch border.
The three story building, of which one is subterranean, is fully oriented towards the sun and the views on the large garden with an introvert character on the front side.
The basement contains storage rooms, a laundry room, a dedicated area for the high-end energy saving and swimming pool installations and a car storage for two cars with a special elevator.
On ground level the villa’s main, two story high entrance-hall, gives excess to the living spaces, kitchen, dining room, swimming pool and garage.
The first floor provides spaces for sleeping, guests, storage and studies. The master bedroom with dressing room, bathroom and wellness has its own roof terrace.
Villa R Is characterized by its minimal design, strong lines and facade surfaces.
The materials palette is limited to white and grey plastering on extern wall insulation, zinc cladding and dark grey aluminum window frames.
