The original house is built in the 1970′s and the previous owner didn’t do any maintenance at all. The house was neglected for years. We have designed a new plan for a major transformation. The existing house will undertake a thoroughly renovation.
The existing house contains of a main volume in combination with an extension on the ground floor. The urban zoning plan allows that we can add another floor on the existing extension. We have made a plan which is built in a timber framed construction so that we re-use the existing foundation. We have plastered the brick work of the exterior in a off white color to give the house a more contemporary appearance. The timber framed cladding comes back at each facade so that the building has got an overal entity. The cladding is made of sustainable wood which also require little maintenance.
On the ground floor we used the existing extension as a large new space which feels like a loft experience because in that space are; home cinema area, reading area and a lounge with fire place. By making an internal window we have created exciting viewlines from the ‘new part’ to the ‘old part’. We designed the atrium which also contains a roof light for more natural lighting. There are two bathrooms. One bathroom for children and guests and one bahtroom connected to the main bedroom as well as a walk in closet.
