“Architecture shapes the way we live. I want to design homes that people long to come home to.”
One of the main reasons Pål has been so successful is his creative process. Unlike other architects, once he has begun work, Pål does not have contact with his clients until he is ready to present them with his design for their house.
Instead, before retreating from the world to his studio, Pål conducts a lengthy, in depth, and personal interview with the family in order to understand who they are, what their expectations are, what their budget is, and in what way are they going to live their lives?
He begins by asking, “What is a home?” Is it a living room? A bedroom? Lives are made up of the daily grind, not holidays, or breaks from routine.
