IT ALL STARTED WITH AN EXTENSIVE RESEARCH OF THE USED MATERIALS, CONSTRUCTION TECHNIQUES AND COLOR SCHEMES DATING BACK TO THE 1950’S

The family villa was built between the former Hotel Zipser and the Villa Secession between January 25th, 1955 and December 10th, 1956 for Captain Giuseppe Gerolimich and his family, a shipwright from Trieste.

When our client came up with the idea to renovate the villa he acquired in early 2018 we started an extensive research of the used materials, construction techniques and color schemes dating back to the 1950’s.

Thanks to Mrs. Gerolimich, who provided the original building plans and some additional plan versions that never got implemented, we were able to add some elements missing and to introduce new ones without destroying the existing structure that never got any addition in all those years.

Our main approach was to elevate and refresh the overall quality of the home and to recreate the dialogue between the land and the sea in a historically important area that had grown from a small lagoon island into a seaside resort.

In addition to the renovation work some of the implemented details are the extension of the terrace on the first floor with stairs down to the lush garden, the new courtyard with carport, the new elevator and the roofing that covers parts of the roof terrace. The former garage has been transformed into a lounge area to enjoy the intimate garden around the villa.

Inside, the existing floor plan was gently upgraded for modern living and we worked very closely with the client to select furnishings, lighting, fabrics and art that suit the home.
