The studio SCAPE, winner of "The Plan Award 2015" and the "Young Talent of Architecture Award 2014", delivers a private house with generous volumes in the heights of Lugano, in Switzerland.
Located in the residential area of Lugano, the house is surrounded by a garden on the edge of the alpine forest. The architects designed the house as an alternation of open spaces and full volumes, hosting reception areas and service spaces.
From the entrance, positioned two meters away from the road, a long corridor crosses the entire main floor, broadening as it reaches the sitting room and dining area.
A central patio increases further the important relationship between inside and outside.
The volumes, made up of load-bearing partition walls, are of different heights and emerge at the upper level to construct an artificial landscape that contrasts with the natural landscape of the mountains. Villa G has been designed in order to grant to all the internal areas to open towards the wood, allowing architecture to become an environmental filter.
