Located between the beautiful Juanillo beach and the Punta Espada golf course in Cap Cana, Antioquia is a beautiful vacation villa with contemporary expression architecture, designed to enjoy the sun, the breezes and the beautiful Caribbean landscape. The opening of the social areas to open spaces and the careful equipment and interior setting give it a warm and welcoming character, appropriate for family enjoyment.
Villa Antioquia is located in the Yararí complex of Cap Cana, an exclusive beach tourist vacation spot located on the east coast of the Dominican Republic, beautifully bordered by the Caribbean Sea. The location with views of the cliff and surrounded by green areas led to the integration of nature in the residential complex to create permeable environments that offered the possibility of developing different family activities, always in line with and closely related to the landscape, the breeze and the light. natural.
This is how the design process was determined by the characteristics of the place, by the use of climatic strategies to give preference to natural lighting and ventilation, the delight offered by the views of the surrounding landscape and the interest in creating transformable spaces in which the limit between the interior and the exterior, of the closed and the open space, is blurred to give rise to suggestive spaces of transition.
The volumetry was conditioned by the regulations of the complex that determines that 60% of the roofs must be inclined. The architectural solution combines a reinforced concrete roof that provides horizontality and dynamism, and three gabled naves under which the interior and semi-open spaces are organized. The 8-meter flight covers the double-height atrium and becomes a leading element that serves as a threshold and entrance to the villa. Although with this roof the typological regulations of the complex are left aside for a moment, they are resumed by having sloping ceilings.
The set of volumes allows natural lighting with perforations and openings in strategic places, such as the roof skylights, which allows sunlight to pass through, enriching the interior space and providing warmth, especially to the areas social.
The carved stone cladding of the exterior wall becomes a predominant material that extends from the entrance to the interior. Although it is heavy in appearance, it favors the visual continuity of the residence. The enclosures of the various spaces consist of sliding glass doors that contribute to spatial fluidity, the abundance of natural light inside and the integration of nature.
The main social area is a combination of a large covered lounge and a semi-covered terrace, which defines a space that turns outwards and culminates in a large terrace that connects with the recreational areas: the pool, the grill, the study and the Gym. This set of spaces surrounded by well-kept gardens is delimited by a porticoed structure that frames the landscape.
The main element of vertical circulation in the villa is developed in the great hall, a sculptural staircase conceived as an integral part of the double height of the terrace. On its way you can enjoy the almost 360-degree view of the social areas, the terrace and the pool in the foreground, and nature as the background that completes the composition.
The half-helix staircase, beyond fulfilling its function for access to the second level where the intimate areas are developed, becomes the protagonist of the built space since it allows us to see the movement of the different volumes and the connection of the different levels of the project, generating new angles and points of view, either when going up or down.
The formal expression of the villa represents a new contemporary Caribbean style. The arch elements
