Via Verde (The “green way”), a 300
unit, affordable housing project located in Bronx, NY was designed to exceed LEED
Gold and Enterprise Green Communities standards for environmentally responsible
and energy efficient design. The façade features an outboard insulated
rain screen with 3 types of rain screen cladding, extruded fibre cement,
phenolic wood and composite aluminum. In addition to the 3 types of rain
screen cladding the façade also integrates the punched window assembly as well
as balconies and aluminum sunshades. The project features a caulkless
interface at all panel to panel joints by use of customized gasketed joinery.
