The VGA house uproots from one of the highest hills in Tijuana. A U-scheme, broken by the site’s slope adapts to the ground, eluding the views towards future neighboring buildings. The three resulting levels, are connected by the vertical circulation axis, which works as the major source of natural light in the house. The basement shelters an entertainment area and it’s accessible from both, in and outside of the house, acting as structural base for the upper levels.
The structure is a hybrid of bearing walls and steel beams that cross the house from side to side, allowing large and open spaces to connect the interior with the patio and terrace at the social level. Where panoramic views of both Tijuana and San Diego Bay can be contemplated, crowning with the Pacific Ocean in the background. This opennes to the backyard, contrasts with an hermetic and solid facade from the street that provides the necessary privacy for the family that lives there.
