Renovation of a two-story penthouse in Rio de Janeiro with a 360 degrees view of the city's main tourist attractions, Christ the Redeemer, Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon and Ipanema Beach. The highlight is the double ceiling foyer, where the vertical circulation of the apartment happens through a travertine stone staircase. A glass skylight allows the living room or balcony to see the Christ, in addition to bringing natural light to the whole living space. The penthouse, projected for an business man and his two children is prepared for the practice of sports. Swimming pool semi-Olympic size for swimming training and the gym over the pool are the main propositions of the project. The entire layout of the two floors came from the positioning of the pool, which occupies the entire western edge of the building. The biggest technical challenge was the installation of the 25 meters long and 1,5 meter depth swimming weighing almost 100 tons of water. It was the customer's main demand. We were taken to the apartment before the purchase to study viability. Structural projects were carried out before purchase. We hired three different offices for structural calculation and revision of calculation for the final guarantee of execution of structural reconstruction and reinforcement for pool support. The structure is a mixed steel structure, reinforced concrete with different trace and carbon fiber coating the entire structural system.
