This renewal took place in a building connected to a train station. The renewal started soon after the existing store has moved out, during the renewal the entire 1st floor was kept open excluding the pachinko parlor. The project strongly focused on improving the lines of flow. The original plans had problems in the connection between the pedestrian deck and the main entrance of the building, and also to the different floors, which caused problems in the leasing of the place. By actively using the existing shaft, escalators were added and reconfigured which smoothened the circulation so it could be easily understood. The entrance area of the building is conceived of a volume removed from the existing building, with structure in mind maximum amount of walls were removed to achieve large openings, and the ceiling was also raised as much as possible. At the same time by illuminating the ceiling surface, it increased the visibility from the train station, the platform and the pedestrian deck. The illumination is consisted of a grid of silver ball bulbs. Incandescent lights are though to be the short lasting, however in fact if the illuminance is kept under 50% the bulb could last about 20times longer than regular use. A regular lamp that lasts about 2000 hours, if it is used this way could last longer than 40thousand hours, which equals to a LED lamp. If the bulb is used 5 hours a day this means the changing of the bulb is unnecessary for up to 20 years. By the reflection of the glass surface, the image of the bulb infinitely repeats itself in equal pitch, which creates an illusory effect where the line between the inside and the outside seemingly disappears.
