The project deals with the rethinking of the outside area of the agritourism farm ‘Canales’, located on the edge of the basaltic edge of the Cedrino lake, in Dorgali (Sardinia, Italy); The design choices follow the awareness of an urgent need for quality for the project in the rural contexts of the island of Sardinia. A research of quality that the intervention tries to translate into built shapes, reinterpreting the principles and features of that minimal living that has built up the island's low-density landscape over time. These principles-issues gain their formal construction in the identification of a mosaic road that hierarchizes the informal space between the farm buildings and mentions, through scraps and plates, the thresholds that connect it with the different areas of the site. A series of specific elements, such as the frame-mirador and the pergola, identify the salient nodes of the system, linked to the visual opening towards the panorama of the Supramonte’s mountains. The constituent materials of the project reinterpret the local morphological complexity, literally fielding elements in basalt, granite, limestone and brick, woven according to modular textures to form a 'lithic carpet' in the threshold of the main building. The objects of being, on the other hand, the frame and the pergola, are made of patinated steel, to recall the timelessness of the technical object which in rural life is compared with the stone organicity of the zero-level arrangement.
