Geyer combined forces with Matthews Architecture for the $1.7m refurbishment of 16 Queen Street in the Perth CBD which houses Venn, a conceptual space that includes an art gallery, design shop, artist studios and bar/café.
The building is a century old flour mill factory built in 1906 and has undergone an extensive design and refurbishment process to create the 125m2 shop plus 70m2 bar/cafe on the ground floor, two gallery spaces on the first floor providing more than 250m2 of gallery space plus artist studios below ground level.
Venn has been designed to preserve original features of the building such as the pressed tin ceiling, polished floorboards, wooden staircase and steel beams whilst a visual connection between each space has been introduced. Geyer selected contemporary materials and the highest quality finishes to compliment the heritage features of the building.
Venn is the creation of Perth based business partners, Desi Litis and Jade Rubino, and is believed to be the first of its kind in Australia to house all four creative components within the same building.
