idhea architects won an international competition to design a train station in Veleslavín - Prague, Czechia.
Veleslavín Train Station is an important node for out-of-town and local transport and thanks to its connection to the airport it becomes a new gateway to Prague. The design proposes a rational transport hub, clearly recognizable landmark and a high-quality public space in the Veleslavín transformation area.
Priority of the station design is easy orientation, space readability and fluidity of passenger movement. The interior naturally navigates the passengers. The shape of the building emphasizes its dynamic content, the triangular motif being a symbol for movement and speed. By burying the train track body underground, a 10 km long linear park for pedestrians and cyclists will be created. The station building is located at the focal point of this park, the walkable green roof allows its smooth continuation.
