The renovation of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Brandcenter transforms a spacious lower level into a modernized academic asset for their graduate advertising and branding programs. Over the past 12 years, the program’s needs have evolved and the design intervention aims to reconfigure the existing facility to create a series of adaptable spaces that include collaborative work rooms, private studies, classrooms, fabrication/recording studios, and a new café and lounge. The project balances focused moments within a larger idea of connectivity, providing students with the opportunity to customize their daily experience while embracing the collaborative opportunities of the collective institution.
