EXTENSION OF A LIVING SPACE

The existing house, Les Vaux, is located at the border of a small village in Touraine in the hearth of a farmer plain landscape. An extension has already been created in the 80’s in the property. The extension is in the continuity of the existing volume but unlike the latter which is low-ceiling due to an intermediate floor, this created volume is on a double high.

Due to the knowledge and the confidence with the building company after the Prépinson project (rehabilitation of 4 houses), we choose together to build this extension in a wood frame with massive wood panels as a constructive mode because of his rapidity and facility of construction. In this forest landscape, the image of the intervention wants to be modest and in the scale of the project. The choice of the cladding in concertation with the local craftsmen, was made with small chestnut panels that will become grey in time.

If the first wish of the clients, an old couple, was a second living space to sew, to play cards… we notice today that this transplant space took his place in the house. What had to be an appendix at the time of the command became the main room.
