Located at the Wuchang Subway Station, Hangzhou Vanke Wonderland Primary School, as a part of TOD, is a surreal depiction of future life, and also a new way to enter a learning path in a city with a high concentration of resources, which is full of a sense of the future and growth.
Students are expected to touch the world in real materials and respect nature. Instead of decoration, the design uses rustic red bricks to create a quiet teaching environment, and presents the ideal "quiet campus" with warm tones and textures. The red brick interprets the changes of light and shadow. The hollowed out masonry method enriches the image of the building interface while increasing the natural lighting.
We introduces the idea of a traditional settlement layout and breaks up the public teaching buildings freely to form courtyards between building gaps in many sizes. The reorganized teaching buildings become one and another green island. Courtyards come in many shapes and sizes, large and small. When walking between teaching buildings, it seems like to walk in a miniature city. The corridors act like the lanes in the city, and the courtyards of various scales are like large and small pocket parks. Nature penetrates into the teaching building all the time.
It creates different spatial experiences and various street scales by combining the width of the road with the local height. With the three-dimensional shuttle line, it creatively puts forward the idea of guiding all the traffic flow into the underground shuttle mode with harbor type pick-up area, so as to ensure the safety of people on the ground; the corridor increases the complexity and interest of the school space. An open and flowing library displays its explicit ability of "unbounded interaction", attracting teachers and students to study and read here anytime and anywhere.
